“Jump Start Sri Lanka”-Awarding 500 Scholarships Of Information Technology At The Ministry Of Sports & Youth Affairs.

“Jump Start Sri Lanka”-Awarding 500 Scholarships of Information Technology at the Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs.

A ceremony of awarding 500 Scholarships to study for a Degree in Information Technology at a State University in the Philippines granted by the Rotary International Foundation jointly organized by the National Youth Services Council and the Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs was held with the patronage of Hon. Roshan Ranasinghe, the Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs, Ms. Jenifer Jones, the Rotary International President, and Dr. Thiran De Silva, the Chairman/ Director General of the National Youth Services Council at the Duncan White Auditorium of the Ministry.

The project of awarding the Scholarships is known as “Jump Start Sri Lanka” and Two billion Rupees have been spent on these Scholarships. As stated by Hon. Roshan Ranasinghe, the sincere gratitude of the Sri Lankan Youth has been conveyed to the International President, Ms. Jenifer Jones for proving these scholarships for the Youth.

Dr. Thiran De Silva instructed the Scholarship recipients to reap the maximum benefit of this great opportunity, accepting this challenge and completing the 04 year Degree Program. Further, It is a matter to be commended that the President of the International Rotary Federation said that arrangements will be made to provide such Scholarships for the Sri Lankan Youth in the future as well.

To mark this event, Hon. Roshan Ranasinghe, the Minister of Youth & Sports Dr. Amal Harsha De Silva, Secretary to the Ministry, Dr. Thiran De Silva, the Chairman/ Director General of the National Youth Services Council, Mr. Manula Chamal Perera, Director(Administration), and Mr. Rashitha Delapola, Director (Training) have participated.
